Child development is the most significant ingredient in a healthy camp experience. This is why our staff is the real secret to our success. Our experienced counselors are known for their personal warmth and ability to care for each child as an individual. Each counselor is a role model for our children, promising them friendship which will last forever! Their love for the children is surpassed only by the children’s love for them.

 

We take great pride in our commitment to recruiting, training and keeping the highest quality staff. Our counselors are trained, dedicated, and know they have to live up to high expectations. They go through online and face-to-face workshops and other programs to help ensure they hit the ground running.

 

CGI Birmingham has gained a reputation among the counselors as a great place to work. We pride ourselves in the way we treat our staff, as we know that being well cared for outside of camp allows them to put heart, soul and all their energy into their campers. Over the years our counselors have come to Alabama from as far away as Australia, France, England and Israel. 

 

Camp Gan Israel of Birmingham has always been dedicated to small groups with exceptional staff supervision. This ensures the best possible care, instruction and supervision for our campers.

 

We expect our staff to serve as role models to the children of our community in the spirit of Torah values. They are also an inspiration to many adults in our community!

Junior Counselors 
Our Junior Counselor program is a wonderful way for teenage girls ages 14-15 to give back to the community in the true spirit of Judaism. They can also earn community service hours for school. Responsibilities include; assisting the counselor in day to day activities and general staff responsibilities.
