PARENTS' CORNER
It is with great excitement that we approach the 2024 season at Camp Gan Israel. We look forward to providing you and your family with an enriching summer experience full of fun times, new friends and great memories. Our staff is eager to get to know your child and give them a summer experience of a lifetime! What makes our program unique is our focus on campers as individuals and our commitment to providing each one of them a nurturing experience. We design the program to provide for your child's social, emotional and cultural wellbeing. With themes relating to their Jewish identity and by infusing the daily schedule with activities, arts and crafts, songs and stories their experience becomes interactive and meaningful. It’s a place where Judaism comes alive in a fun way. Your child will grow and form special relationships with friends and role models to cherish for a lifetime.
Below are some reminders for a successful summer experience.
COMMUNICATION
Communication with parents is essential to achieving our mission with every child. We feel that being partners with parents is the best way to make camp the most positive experience possible. If there is anything bothering you or your child, we want to be the first to know!
Please feel free to contact Rabbi Friedman at rabbif@chabadofalabama.com about any concerns you might have!
DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP
Drop off starts at 8:50 AM, and pick-up starts at 3:20 PM. If you need to drop your child off any earlier, we have early care that starts at 8:00 AM for $5 per hour, per child. If you are unable to be there at 3:30 PM to pick up your child, we have aftercare until 4:30 PM which is also $5 per hour, per child. Sometimes we do not get back from a trip until right before dismissal. Please let us at the beginning of the camp day know if your child needs to be picked up earlier, so you are able to pick him/her up from the trip, or we can arrange for him/her to be brought back earlier.
LUNCH
Camp Gan Israel is proud to serve hot lunches daily. Please look at the LUNCH link to see the menu.
If your child doesn’t like the lunch of the day, please make sure to send a lunch with him/her. We do have peanut butter and jelly sandwiches available every day.
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation to trips in Camp Gan Israel is done on STS (School Transportation Services) school buses and our Chabad mini-bus that we rent for the summer. Our rising Kindergarten campers will be transported to trips and swimming in the mini-bus that is outfitted with seatbelts. We provide backless boosters, however, if you wish for your child to have a more supportive booster, please drop it off in the morning at carpool. If you choose to send a booster seat with your child, please make sure it is properly labeled with your child’s name, and please be patient with us and understand that it will take longer to get your child into the car in the carpool line at the end of the day.
